Amid the isolation, personal tragedy and turbulence that so many are currently experiencing, we at Upstream Theater extend our most ardent thanks to you, the supporters of the arts. Upstream would not be here without you. When we have weathered this storm, please join us for our 16th season of top-quality, professional productions of works from around the world --plays that will continue Upstream's ongoing demonstration that inclusiveness, diversity and fresh perspectives never lose their relevance ... plays that move you, and move you to think.

In keeping with the evolving response to the current public health crisis, Upstream Theater is postponing our premiere of IPHIGENIA IN SPLOTT until next season. The play is now scheduled to run from October 9-25.
If you have purchased single tickets or a season passport we will be happy to honor your ticket at that time.
We would not be Upstream Theater if we didn't have suggestions to "move you, and move you to think."

Going a little further back, to see how one group of self-quarantined people occupied themselves in the 14th Century, we recommend Boccaccio's Decameron. I personally enjoy the 17th Century English translation by John Florio:
“The Ladies and Gentlemen allowed of the motion, to spend the time in telling pleasant tales; whereupon the Queene saide: Seeing you have approved mine advice, I grant free permission for this first day, that every one shall relate, what to him or her is best pleasing.”
Finally, at this particularly challenging juncture, any gesture of support is greatly appreciated. (You may click here for details.)
For all of you: be safe and stay healthy and thank you for reading.
