Virginia Braxs
Ms. Braxs, native of
Argentina, holds a Master in Spanish from Washington University, and as a
Spanish instructor she has taught at UMSL, Webster University and since
1997 to the present as a full time Spanish Lecturer at Washington
University. She is in charge of outreach programs as the Hispanic
Community and Student Groups Liaison, Coordinator of Volunteer Programs
for Students of Spanish, and recently Director of the Summer Language
Institute in Spain at the Romance Languages & Literatures Department
at Washington University in St. Louis.
Ms. Braxs is actively
involved in community service with different organizations of the Hispanic
community of St. Louis, and from 1996 to 2003 she hosted a bilingual radio
program on KDHX St. Louis Community Radio. As Vice-president of the
Hispanic Arts Council of St. Louis she sponsors art exhibitions, lectures,
concerts, and festivals to promote the excellence of her Hispanic heritage
and culture.
Ms. Braxs is a frequent guest lecturer in her field of Hispanic culture and literature; she also conducts professional workshops for High School teachers on teaching through an interdisciplinary, community service, art and cultural approach.
