Upstream Theater, a professional company dedicated to bringing an international perspective to local stages, is pleased to present the US professional premiere of Marija's Pictures by Croatian playwright Lydia Scheuermann Hodak, translated by Nina H. Antoljak.

Performances are Oct. 27-29 and Nov. 2-5 at the Forsyth School Theater, 305 S. Skinker Blvd., between Clayton and Wydown, 8 PM except Sundays at 7 PM. Set in May 1992, Marija's Pictures is a poignant account of one woman's suffering as a victim of the war that devastated the town she once called home, her coming to terms with the violence and violation inflicted upon herself and her loved ones, and her summoning the strength to move into a future consisting of more than mere survival. Directed by Philip Boehm and starring Linda Kennedy, Jane Paradise, and Elizabeth Birkenmeier, with live music by Farshid Soltanshahi.

Tickets $18 or $12 for students and seniors. Special group discounts available. For reservations please call 314-863-4999 or email upstreamtheater@sbcglobal.net.

Audience members will also have a special chance to meet the playwright, who will be part of a panel at Washington University on Thursday, Oct. 26th (please contact the theater for more details or visit www.upstreamtheater.org).
