90.7 KWMU presents the St. Louis premiere of Knives in Hens by Scottish playwright David Harrower April 27-29 and May 3-6, 2007.
90.7 KWMU is pleased to present the St. Louis premiere of Knives in Hens by Scottish playwright David Harrower, an Upstream Theater Production. Performances are April 27-29 and May 3-6 at 305 S. Skinker Blvd. (at Fauquier between Clayton and Wydown). Performances at 8 PM except Sundays at 7 PM.
Set in an imagined, pre-industrial landscape, Knives in Hens is a haunting evocation of a benighted world and one woman’s journey towards illumination. According to Mark Fischer of The Guardian: “The play seems to hit you on a subconscious level, as if by stripping back the language and the setting to its most austere, the playwright has tapped into a source of elemental power. Like a dream, Knives in Hens is a play you feel.”
Directed by Philip Boehm and starring local Equity actors Magan Wiles, Christopher Hickey, and Peter Mayer, with live music by Farshid Soltanshahi and original sculptures by Kansas City artist Will Valk.

Upstream Theater is a professional production company dedicated to presenting new works and inventive stagings of classical plays, with a special focus on joint ventures involving artists from other countries.
